The Moldovan government has secured $46.5m from the International Monetary Fund. The agreement is expected to be approved by the IMF board this fall. “We agreed to extend the program with the IMF by March 2020 to benefit from all EU macro-financial assistance. The program was suspended due to the inappropriate decisions of the previous government, which unbalanced the budget of the Republic of Moldova. We agreed on some expenditures to balance the budget so that there is enough income for salaries and social payments,” said Moldovan Prime Minister Maia Sandu. “We are a responsible team that has managed to win the trust of external financiers.”
