Mortgages exceeded RON 2 billion in July, a monthly record in 14 years

In July 2021, Romanians took out new mortgage loans in RON in a volume of over RON 2 billion, 55.5 percent above the level of July 2020, marking a new monthly maximum of new mortgages in the last 14 years. Mortgages in RON were up in July compared to the volume in June, of about RON 1.81 billion.

In the first 7 months of 2021, new mortgage financing in RON reached RON 11.3 billion, 45.6 percent above the level of 2020. On the level of new mortgage loans in EUR, the volume reached EUR 4.04 million in July, slightly lower than in July 2020.
