German manufacturer MTU Aero Engines has started the construction of an engine repair facility in Nova Pazova, in northern Serbia, according to the Serbian president's office. The construction works will be carried out by MTU Maintenance Serbia, a fully-owned subsidiary of MTU.

MTU had chosen Nova Pazova as the location of its new engine repair facility. At the beginning of the COVID-19 crisis, the company notified the Serbian government that it expects to launch the plant at least six months later than the initially planned date, which was set for mid-2022.
