Tesco plans to invest in a new distribution center in Slovakia. The decision follows a period when the hypermarket chain was closing and selling off stores. Prologis will build a 55,000 sqm warehouse in Prologis Park Galanta-Gáň which Teso plans to use for storing dry foodstuffs. The distribution center will serve the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia, according to the head of Tesco Stores Slovakia Martin Kuruc. Tesco has also extended its lease contract for 91,500 sqm in Prologis Park Galanta-Gáň. The park, located to the east of Bratislava near D1 motorway, currently consists of three warehouses totaling 185,000 sqm. It has potential for further two halls that will bring the total volume of usable space to 250,000 sqm.
