Niedzielski: We have the 5th wave of the pandemic, we expect its development to be 'very dynamic'

Poland has entered the 5th wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, which - according to government forecasts - will develop "very dynamically," said Minister of Health Adam Niedzielski.

"We have 30,586 new and confirmed coronavirus cases. This figure is greater than the statistics monitored during wave 4 last fall. [...] Today's COVID-19 statistics are very serious. Not only have we entered the 5th wave, but we forecast, that it will develop very dynamically," said Niedzielski during a press conference.

"This scenario, which is carried out with the result of over 30,000 cases, is very dangerous and requires a very responsible attitude," he added.

The minister informed that the ministry is observing a "very dynamic" increase in the number of orders for further COVID-19 tests. "These are gains that we have not dealt with," he emphasized.

He announced that the government would appeal to all employers who are able to implement remote work without any obstacles to do so.

The Ministry of Health announced today that 30,586 new cases of infection, confirmed by positive laboratory tests, have been reported. During the last day, over 122.3 thousand jobs were performed. coronavirus tests, the total number of samples tested was over 28.8 million, the ministry also said.

According to data from the Ministry of Health, as of this morning, 493,483 people were quarantined, 14,005 people were hospitalized (out of 30,248 beds for COVID-19 patients). 1,391 ventilators were occupied (out of 2,730 available in hospitals).
