The Pardubice region wants to repair two unoccupied buildings of the Secondary Industrial School of Civil Engineering in Rybitví in the Pardubice region with the help of a subsidy from the Ministry of Regional Development from a program called Ukraine - expansion of accommodation capacities. It currently serves as emergency accommodation for Ukrainian refugees. However, the buildings are not in good condition, said Dominik Barták, the spokesman of the governor's office.

"It is really emergency accommodation in the true sense of the word. For example, windows or floors are not in order," said Regional Councilor Ladislav Valtr (ODS), responsible for regional development, European funds and innovation. Around 50 refugees live in the buildings. The school built a mobile fence around the buildings.

The costs of the prepared project will probably reach six million crowns, while the amount of the subsidy could be CZK 3.6 million. The buildings, which now serve as accommodation for refugees, can serve students at a secondary school or, for example, a university in Pardubice, once the refugee crisis has subsided.

After the replacement of windows and floors, the condition of the buildings will improve significantly, but in the future it will be necessary to deal with the poor condition of risers and wiring. There is also a bad roof on one of the buildings. Adjustments will be necessary over time, but probably as the next stage of reconstruction and not as part of a project funded by the grant. The scope of construction work exceeds the time schedule of the call.

The construction school in Rybitví has several unused buildings of the former boarding school on its premises, which have been preserved for many years. At the beginning of the refugee crisis, the governor's office selected them for emergency accommodation. High school students also took part in the training. The beds come from a regular change of beds in the regional long-term patients' treatment center in Rybitví.
