The Polish Development Fund (PFR) has announced the launch of the PFR Academy for Cities, a free educational initiative designed to equip local government officials with skills in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles, innovative service design, and urban development strategies. Recruitment for the program is open until September 30.

The PFR has been committed to enhancing the capabilities of Polish cities and municipalities by providing access to modern tools and solutions. “The PFR Academy for Cities is a flagship program that strengthens the competencies of local government leaders,” stated Eliza Kruczkowska, Director of the Innovation Development Department at PFR. “This unique educational project aims to impart expert knowledge on the design and implementation of new technologies that focus on sustainable development and improving the quality of life for residents.”

The program will offer a variety of practical workshops, study visits, and interactive tasks tailored to both specialists and local government leaders. Participants will gain essential skills for effectively managing urban areas and implementing innovative solutions. The academy will deliver its modules in both in-person and online formats, allowing for flexible adaptation to the needs of participants.

“This initiative is targeted at local government employees responsible for key developmental areas in cities with county rights, as well as urban and rural municipalities with populations between 5,000 and 100,000,” the announcement explained. Each local government can nominate an unlimited number of candidates for the first phase of the program, but only a maximum of two candidates will be selected through the recruitment process.

The Polish Development Fund is a financial group dedicated to fostering the growth of enterprises, local governments, and individuals, with a focus on sustainable social and economic development in Poland. Its priorities include infrastructure investments, innovation, entrepreneurship development, and support for local governments, as well as implementing employee capital plans.
