Prague 12, in cooperation with the municipality, plans to rebuild the existing seat of the city district in Písek Street together with the neighboring cultural hall into a multi-functional building with a large hall for cultural and social events and city apartments. This follows from a document approved today by Prague councilors. The Municipal Prague Development Company (PDS) was given the task of developing further steps. The district office will move to a neighboring new building, which is being completed.

According to the approved document, a social hall with the required size of around 500 sqm is now missing in Modřany. The hall, which is located in the completed new town hall for more than CZK 600 million, also does not reach this size. Therefore, according to the document, the town hall would prefer the path of reconstruction of the old town hall building and the adjacent building, where the basic elementary art school is now private.

"Preliminary inspection estimates that in addition to the multi-functional hall, approximately 45 housing units could be built in the building," the resolution said. Of this, eight to ten flats would be kept by the city district, and the rest would go to the municipality in exchange for participation in the preparation and financing.

According to the city's ideas, the entire construction should be managed by the PDS, which the city district would have to leave the real estate and land. After the completion of the construction, the property would be divided again between Prague 12 and the city according to a pre-approved agreement. The details of the division will be part of the proposal for further procedure, the preparation of which was entrusted to the PDS. The document will also include a cost estimate. PDS will receive CZK 300,000 from the city for its preparation.

The now completed new City Hall of Prague 12 was originally scheduled to be completed this spring, but construction was delayed. The price also increased, originally construction costs were estimated at approximately CZK 470 million, according to the latest information they increased to CZK 617.8 million. To finance the construction, the twelfth city district received an interest-free loan of CZK 250 million from the capital, and subsequently the municipality approved another CZK 120 million in the form of a subsidy. The Prague 12 Office is now housed in seven buildings that are in poor technical condition.
