Prague 6 has outlined ambitious investment plans totaling four billion crowns over the coming years, focusing on healthcare, housing, education, and leisure. With two billion crowns already saved and an annual budget surplus of 300 to 350 million crowns, the city district plans to utilize these reserves for significant infrastructure and development projects while maintaining a 500 million crown reserve for unforeseen circumstances.

One of the most substantial projects is the reconstruction and expansion of the Pod Marjánkou Polyclinic, a key medical facility in Břevnov. A new three-story building will be constructed to house medical offices, allowing for a phased renovation of the existing clinic, which will eventually provide additional services based on residents’ needs. The project is expected to be completed by 2039, with an estimated cost of 1.2 billion crowns, financed through municipal funds and an interest-free loan from the capital.

Another major healthcare investment is the new long-term care hospital on Drnovská Street, which will replace an outdated facility. The 600 million crown project will feature 102 beds and rehabilitation services open to the public, along with commercial spaces for local businesses. The hospital is expected to be operational within four years, funded by a combination of city contributions, state subsidies, and district resources.

In leisure and recreation, Prague 6 plans to construct an indoor swimming pool at Petynka, which will include a 25-meter pool, adjustable-depth lanes, recreational pools, and wellness facilities. The 600 million crown project, scheduled to open in the coming years, will be financed through a mix of local subsidies and municipal funding.

A new cultural and social center is planned for the Victory Square area, addressing the district’s lack of a dedicated cultural hub. The facility, spanning 3,000 square meters, will host concerts, exhibitions, theater performances, and community events. The total investment is estimated at 800 million crowns, partially funded by developer contributions.

Housing development is also a key focus, with three new apartment buildings planned for Rakovnická Street, offering 41 starter apartments and a kindergarten with a large outdoor space. Construction is expected to be completed by 2028, at a cost of 220 million crowns, financed through affordable housing programs, commercial loans, and district funds.

Additionally, the city district will redevelop an apartment building on Milady Horákové Street, adding 13 to 15 new apartments and commercial spaces. This project, expected to be completed by 2027, will cost 135.3 million crowns, utilizing a mix of local resources, a Green Savings subsidy, and a commercial loan.

Education remains a top priority, with planned school projects totaling up to 700 million crowns, partially funded by developer contributions. Key projects include a new kindergarten at Červený Vrch, an extension of Petřiny-sever Elementary School, and the development of new elementary schools in Sedlec-south and Nová Ruzyně. These schools are at different stages of planning, with some awaiting zoning plan changes before construction can begin.

The Prague 6 municipal office is exploring additional funding sources, including EU subsidies, state contributions, private sector partnerships, and commercial loans, to ensure the completion of these projects. These investments aim to enhance the quality of life for residents while protecting the value of municipal resources against inflation.
