Prague Airport plans to open a general loan of up to seven billion crowns. It will finance its current commitments as well as further development. The company has therefore now launched a tender for a lender. Airport traffic has been in decline for more than a year due to the coronavirus pandemic. For most of the crisis, the airport has so far operated from its own resources.

The company's representatives believe that they will achieve favorable financing conditions, while relying on their long-term financial stability, previous management steps, their credit rating and operating and economic results from previous years, which showed regular growth before the crisis.

The coronavirus crisis has been significantly reducing air traffic for more than a year. Last year, after years of record passenger numbers, Prague Airport lost 79 percent of its passengers compared to 2019. It handled a total of 3.66 million, the lowest in 25 years. The slowdown continues so far this year as well, with a year-on-year decline of 90 percent to 251,000 passengers handled in the quarter. According to current expectations, the situation should gradually improve during the summer.
