From January to May, banks lent more than CZK 179 billion to people for housing. This is almost the same amount of money as for the whole of 2019. At that time, banks provided mortgages for less than CZK 182 billion. Demand for real estate is extremely high and continues to grow. This is also shown by the sales numbers of Central Group, which are double compared to last year. The gradually rising mortgage interest rate, which rose to 2.06 percent in May, did not cool the interest either.

The Central Group has sold over 400 apartments since January and has reservations for more than a hundred more. Although it has the largest offer of new flats on the market and since the beginning of the year it has launched sales of three completely new projects in Prague 8, 3 and 9 (Viladomy Roudnická, Parková čtvrť and Viladomy Letňany).

In the first quarter of this year, people in Prague bought 2,100 new flats, which is 61.5% more than a year ago. It is also the highest number of new flats sold in the metropolis in one quarter. If similarly strong demand continues in the second half of the year, it is certain that further records will be set.
