Q Park Měšice expands with new Q5 Gallery: A fusion of industry and art
The industrial complex Q Park Měšice, located just outside Prague, is growing not only as a commercial hub but also as a center for contemporary art. A newly added feature of this 160,000m² complex is the Q5 Gallery, an event and conference space with a unique artistic overlay. Q Park Měšice already houses a vibrant art zone, including Artefin, a fine art gallery and investment fund, and Artex, a specialized depository for artwork storage and transportation. The complex is also home to the only duty-free zone for art objects in Central Europe.
The addition of the Q5 Gallery elevates the site as a destination for businesses and art enthusiasts alike. Designed for corporate events, conferences, and training sessions, the space is adorned with works from leading Czech artists, making it a fusion of industry and culture. The Q5 Gallery aims to provide a non-traditional setting for corporate events, while showcasing the impact of art and architecture on transforming industrial spaces.
The transformation of Q Park Měšice, once a dilapidated industrial complex, is a result of years of revitalization efforts. The former office and warehouse site has been reimagined as a modern industrial and cultural hub. Q5 Gallery, part of this ongoing transformation, is housed in a former office building that has been completely renovated, blending industrial elements with contemporary art.
“Q5 Gallery is not a typical exhibition space,” explains René Rohan, curator of Artefin and Q5 Gallery. “It was designed to host events, lectures, and private meetings, all while being surrounded by exceptional artwork. We worked with architects from Labor13 Studio to seamlessly incorporate works from Artefin Gallery, located just across the street, into the design of Q5. Our goal was to demonstrate how quality architecture and art can enhance an ordinary building, creating a space with a strong cultural impact.”
The Q5 Gallery renovation preserved only the essential elements of the original 1990s administrative building, such as the supporting structure, core, and staircase. Architect Jan Vojtěch of Labor13 designed an open, inviting space with a distinctive luminous bar as its centerpiece. The gallery’s interior has the ambiance of a modern café combined with an art gallery, offering two private themed lounges for informal gatherings and personal meetings.
“From the moment you step into Q5 Gallery, you’re met with a stylized experience,” says Michal Bedřich, manager of Q5 Gallery. “Visitors are drawn in through a narrow, funnel-shaped staircase that leads to a bright, open space on the second floor. The centerpiece is a striking bar made of painted steel with luminous Ironbrod glass panels. The space is further enhanced by designer furniture from Koncepti, which complements the industrial vibe, while regularly updated artworks by prominent Czech artists elevate the atmosphere.”
Currently, the gallery features works by Lukáš Rais, David Hanvald, Patrik Hábl, Petr Nikl, Václav Kočí, Michal Cimala, and Jakub Hošek. The artwork on display will rotate regularly, ensuring a dynamic cultural experience for both the business community and art lovers visiting Q Park Měšice.
Q5 Gallery is not only a testament to the transformation of an industrial space into a cultural venue but also an example of how art can redefine and enrich corporate environments.
