Austrian company producing energy drinks RedBull yesterday presented an advertising spot that contains footage from the April crossing of the formula on Charles Bridge, which caused strong controversy among some of the Czech public and political representation. Many users of social networks at the time criticized the lease of a significant cultural monument for promotional purposes by a multinational company, and the management of Prague City Hall later stated that they did not know about the planned passage of the formula until the last moment.

RedBull filmed at several locations in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. In addition to Charles Bridge, the formula in the video also appears near Prague Castle or at the statue of Franz Kafka near Národní třída. Subsequently, the story moves to Moravia, where the race car goes through the vineyards.

In Slovakia, the formula appears, among other things, in the streets of Bratislava, crosses the Old Bridge over the Danube and finally stops at Bratislava Castle.

The formula appeared on Charles Bridge on April 21, and its presence aroused the disapproval of some members of the public. The Prague councilor for culture Hana Třeštíková (Prague Sobě) told the iDNES.cz server at the time that the management of the municipality did not agree with the passage, but that the management of RedBull apparently agreed with the management of the Prague 1 district where the bridge is located.

Property councilor Jan Chabr (TOP 09) then told iDNES.cz that he approved the filming after the Prague 1 monument was given to him. However, according to the company's request, it was not clear that the formula 1 racing car was going across the bridge, and RedBull also stated that it would shoot a film, not a commercial. If the management of the municipality knew the real purpose in advance, they would not allow the event, he added.

The spot from the Czech Republic and Slovakia is part of the RedBull series, which shoots videos from various countries to promote its Formula 1 team. Race cars pass through the local nature or around the most famous historical monuments. The company has shot previous commercials in India, Argentina, the United States, Switzerland and Denmark, for example.
