The number of registrations of electric passenger cars and plug-in hybrids in Poland increased by 149 percent y/y to 6,671 vehicles in the period January-May 2021, according to the electromobility meter, launched and updated by the Polish Alternative Fuels Association (PSPA) and the Polish Automotive Industry Association (PZPM). At the end of May, there were 1,495 public charging stations for electric vehicles in Poland (2,897 points).

At the end of May 2021, there were 25,407 electric passenger cars on Polish roads. Fully electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for 49% (12,432 units) of this part of the vehicle park, and the remaining part (51 %) were plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) - 12,975 units. The fleet of electric vans and trucks was 966 units. The fleet of electric mopeds and motorcycles, which at the end of May consisted of from 10,105 pcs.

The number of registrations of fully electric cars in the first five months of 2021 amounted to 2,563 units, and plug-in hybrids - 4,108 units.

At the end of last month, the electric bus fleet in Poland increased to 526 units. From January to May 2021, the electric bus fleet increased by 94 zero-emission vehicles. Compared to the same period of 2020, when 31 such buses were registered, this means an increase by 203% y/y.

As the number of electric vehicles increases, the charging infrastructure is also developing. At the end of May, there were 1,495 public charging stations for electric vehicles in Poland (2,897 points). 33% of them were fast DC charging stations and 67% were slow AC chargers with a power less than or equal to 22 kW. In May, 39 new, generally accessible charging stations (59 points) were launched

"In the period from June 2019 to May 2020, 479 generally accessible charging stations for electric vehicles were installed in Poland, in the next 12 months - only 322. The pace of expansion of the charger network has clearly decreased. At the same time, the number of electric cars per one public charging point is increasing. In May 2019, this ratio was 4.4, a year later 5.3, and now - 8.8. In Q1 2021, the number of publicly available points in Poland increased by only 5% compared to the end of 2020, while in Germany - by as much as 10%. This is a gap, especially considering the fact that the network of chargers beyond our western border is incomparably more extensive - it exceeded 40,000 points," commented managing director of PSPA, Maciej Mazur.

"Starting from this edition, the hydrogen vehicle registrations will also be reported in the Meter of electromobility. The reason is the visible increase in their registrations - in May this year 46 units were registered and currently in Poland their park consists of 53 units. We still hope that the number of cars with the drive will be electric vehicles will gradually grow, but it must be emphasized that the demand for these vehicles depends on two factors - their inclusion in the system of subsidies and ensuring the charging infrastructure. and refueling - from the government program, as well as from the funds from the National Reconstruction Plan. Lack of declarations regarding support plans inhibits the purchasing moods of both individual and corporate customers, which is why announcing the details of both programs as soon as possible is so important "- added PZPM president Jakub Faryś .

PZPM is the largest Polish organization of employers in the automotive industry, currently associating 50 companies: manufacturers and representatives of manufacturers of motor vehicles, motorcycles, scooters and body manufacturers in Poland.

The Polish Alternative Fuels Association (PSPA) is the largest industry organization in Poland, creating the electromobility market and promoting zero- and low-emission technologies in transport.
