Romania had in December the largest annual increase in construction works in the European Union, of 11.5 percent, according to Eurostat estimates. The annual growth rate registered a strong recovery, after slowing sharply to 6.4 percent in November. In fact, Romania, Germany and the Netherlands were the only countries where construction works increased compared to December 2019.

For the whole fourth quarter, local construction work recorded an annual increase of 12.6 percent, the highest in the EU. Compared to the previous quarter, construction works decreased by 1.3 percent in the last three months of 2020.
