In the last five years, Romanian investors have purchased real estate properties with a value of EUR 1.1 billion, representing 28 percent of the volume traded in this interval, becoming the most active buyers of income-generating assets in Romania, according to Cushman & Wakefield Echinox.

The ranking is completed by investors from South Africa (who made purchases of EUR 600 million, representing 15 percent of the volume) and Austria (14 percent market share), two markets from which Romania has constantly attracted capital in the last 15 years . The following positions are occupied by investors from Israel (9 percent) and Hungary (8 percent).

"The presence of Romanian investors in the real estate market reflects the capital accumulations of the last decade of sustained economic growth and provides an element of stability, especially in uncertain periods. As a profile, local investors have a better understanding of consumption and occupancy trends, as well as a higher confidence in the positive evolution of the economy in the medium and long term, understanding the cyclicality of the market," explains Cristi Moga, Head of Capital Markets , Cushman & Wakefield Equinox.
