Simons Foundation leases 125,000 sqf of offices at 162 Fifth Ave.

The Simons Foundation, a charitable organization focused on scientific research, has signed a 125,000 sqf lease at 162 Fifth Avenue in New York's Flatiron District. The lease will encompass the entire office portion of the eleven story building. The foundation, headquartered across the street at 160 Fifth Avenue, plans to renovate the entire space, as well as the building’s lobby. Built in 1930, the building also has 9,500 sqf of ground floor retail currently occupied by a Chase bank branch. Cushman & Wakefield’s Peter Hennessy represented the tenant in the negotiations while James Caseley represented the building's owner ABS Partners.
