SITA opens development and research center in Cluj

SITA, the largest developer of technological solutions for the aviation industry, based in Switzerland, announced the opening of a development and research center in Cluj, thus being its first such center opened in Eastern Europe. The company has already hired 50 IT professionals and aims to reach a total of 80 employees in the coming months.

"Eastern Europe is a market of 140 million passengers in 2023, 22% more than the pre-pandemic period. There were 24.5 million passengers in Romania, 18% more than in 2019. It is a very dynamic market, aviation is growing and we want to serve this market with the solutions we make in Cluj. Why Cluj? Here we find the skills and technologies we need. Romania is one of the most dynamic markets in Europe," says Sergio Colella, president of Europe SITA.

SITA has been collaborating with local airlines and the 17 local airports since 1991.
