Škoda introduces in-car fuel payment service in the Czech Republic
Škoda Auto has launched a new service in the Czech Republic that allows drivers to pay for fuel directly from their car’s display, eliminating the need to visit the cash register. Currently, the service is available at OMV petrol stations, with plans to expand to other fuel providers as negotiations with additional operators are underway. The feature, already available in seven other European countries, was announced by Škoda yesterday.
To use the in-car payment system, customers must have an active Škoda Connect account, the remote access feature enabled via the MyŠkoda app, and the Pay to Fuel app installed from the car’s display menu. Once the driver arrives at an OMV station, they select the pump number on their vehicle’s screen, fuel up, and the payment is automatically processed via a pre-saved payment card in the MyŠkoda app. In addition to standard payment cards, fleet cards will also be accepted in the future.
The service is available for all Škoda models with internal combustion engines that are equipped with a nine-inch or larger touchscreen and navigation systems like Amundsen or Columbus. To check if a specific vehicle is compatible with the Pay to Fuel service, drivers can visit Škoda’s website and enter their car’s VIN code for a list of available Škoda Connect services.
Škoda has partnered with Parkopedia and the fintech company ryd to launch the service. In addition to the Czech Republic, Škoda drivers can access the Pay to Fuel feature in Belgium, Denmark, Spain, Luxembourg, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
