A new solar energy system has been installed on the roof of the Budapest ONE office complex, as developer and operator Futureal continues to upgrade the building with sustainability features.

Phase one of the complex now hosts 146 solar panels with a combined capacity of 81.76 kWp. The installation is expected to produce around 80,000 kWh of electricity annually, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by almost 18 tons per year. The system, financed directly by Futureal, also improves the building’s energy performance certificate rating from CC to BB. Energy generated by the panels is projected to lower tenants’ electricity bills by several million forints each year.

Located in Őrmező, one of Budapest’s busiest transport hubs, the 66,000 sqm Budapest ONE development has already received several sustainability and accessibility accreditations. These include BREEAM Excellent, WELL Platinum, and Access4You Gold certifications. The project incorporates high technical standards such as a central smart building management system and a heat recovery ventilation system designed to enhance energy efficiency.

The complex also integrates features to promote employee well-being and accessibility. Facilities include a green rooftop garden, a panoramic running track, secure bicycle storage with showers, electric vehicle charging stations, and a community space with landscaped greenery and a stage for events.

Tenants at Budapest ONE include international firms such as Oracle and BT Group’s regional service centre.
