SPAR Group has decided to take strategic steps toward selling its SPAR business in Poland, which currently includes 212 retail stores, the company said.

The SPAR Group Limited, one of South Africa's largest retailers, listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, has announced its decision to take strategic steps towards the sale of the SPAR business in Poland. The SPAR Poland chain includes 212 top-tier retail stores - both corporate and operated by independent retail operators, a state-of-the-art prepared meals business and two regional distribution centers in southern and central Poland, according to the company announcement.

Maintaining a positive view of the opportunities and prospects for retail development in Poland's dynamic and growing market, SPAR's management team and employees will continue to work on both the growth and development of SPAR's business in Poland. In order to ensure the continued presence of the SPAR brand in Poland, the security of contractors, retail partners and the team in Poland, as well as the maintenance of SPAR's current Polish business, The SPAR Group has confirmed that it will continue to provide the required support to SPAR Poland until the process of finding a suitable and reliable investor is finalized, the company stated.
