Strabag and Avax signed a $147m deal with the Croatian state-owned motorway operator Hrvatske Ceste to build access roads to Peljesac Bridge, which is currently under construction. Strabag will build the Duboka-Sparagovici section, which covers 12 km, while Avax will build the Sparagovici-Prapratno and Prapratno-Doli sections, covering 18 km. The European Commission will provide 85 percent of the funding. Construction broke ground on Peljesac Bridge in July. The work is being overseen by a Chinese consortium led by CRBC. Completion is scheduled for January 2021. The 2.4 km bridge will connect the Croatian peninsula with the mainland.
