Just Eat Takeaway.com, the largest food delivery company in Europe, leaves Romania starting 1st of June because of the small profit margins.

The competitive pressure, the scale of our operations, as well as the level of penetration of food delivery operations in Romania were insufficient to support a healthy business. Giving up operations in Romania allows us to focus on markets where we are market leaders and which are sustainably profitable, announced the company.

Takeaway reported a loss of over EUR 1 billion in 2021, and gave up the Portuguese and Norwegian markets in March this year. This is the third major exit of a Romanian food delivery company, after Uber Eats and Foodpanda (which was acquired by Glovo).
