Ukrainian sports equipment retailer Gorgany entered the Romanian market this year, opening its first store in Bucharest's Unirii Square. The brand has thus set up a shop in a street space, right in the one vacated almost two years ago by another retailer, Intersport. At that time, the company gave up all street retail in Romania, betting on shopping malls, which is the model preferred by almost all the players in the sector.

Gorgany was founded in 2005 in Ukraine by two entrepreneurs and today has 12 stores in its home market. The store in Piața Unirii is the first in Romania, according to existing data.
