The decision to install 652 solar panels on its roof will contribute to greater energy self-sufficiency and energy savings for the Unipress printing plant in Turnov. The installation of the 410 Wp panels began in February by the Czech company Greenbuddies. The solar plant will produce 250 MWh per year, which is almost a third of the printer's annual energy consumption. At a price of CZK 9,844 per MWh, the move represents a saving of CZK 2.5 million for Unipress in the first year of operation. The printing plant in Turnov can thus boast not only the latest printing technologies, but also an environmentally friendly approach.

"We are now happy to capitalize on our rich foreign experience from similar projects in the Czech Republic. Places such as rooftops or unused spaces of brownfields are ideal areas for companies to install a photovoltaic power plant and thus ensure partial energy independence. In the Unipress solar power plant project, we provided a complete turnkey solution so that the client had no worries. The project documentation phase, all permits and component purchases have been completed, and now the construction begins, followed by the commissioning of the delivered technology," says Aleš Spáčil, Sales Director and co-founder of Greenbuddies, about the project.

By installing a solar power plant from the Czech company Greenbuddies, Unipress, a company with a 100-year history, promises greater energy independence and savings on energy prices. "We expect the entire investment to be paid back within a few years, depending on the economic situation. The savings modelling predicts that the plant will produce 250 MWh per year, and thus, at the current price of CZK 9,844 per MWh, we will save CZK 2.5 million in the first year of operation. In addition, the energy generated will come purely from renewable sources. With an annual consumption of 818 MWh, the solar panels will save Unipress 30% of its total consumption. We already believe that the project will help us to be more competitive, more economical and, above all, more environmentally friendly," says David Svoboda, Director of Unipress Turnov.

As for the technical specifications of the installation, the roof of the Unipress printing plant can accommodate 652 photovoltaic panels with an output of 410 Wp. The installation technicians are working with three HUAWEI SUN2000-60KTL inverters. The total output of the solar panels will reach a peak of 267.32 kWp.

In the past 5 years, Greenbuddies has completed more than 750 MWp of PV power plants and installed nearly 1,875,000 PV modules. Many of its international installations have turned unused land and rooftops into modern solar power plants, for example at the Frankfurt railway station, in Čepin in the Croatian hinterland on the site of a sunflower oil production plant, at the waterworks in Briesen or at the clothing sorting plant of the Dutch branch of the Salvation Army in Deventer, and last but not least last autumn it installed a solar power plant with 2,000 panels at the Congress Centre in Prague.
