Warsaw UNIT is Ghelamco’s latest skyscraper, built at Daszyńskiego Roundabout in the heart of Warsaw’s new business centre has been nominated in 4 categories at this years CIJ Awards Poland.

UNIT’s uniqueness lies in its architecture, which combines the modernist heritage of Warsaw with modern materials. The slender body of the skyscraper reflects the cityscape in blue glazing, and the straight lines of the building perfectly compliment it.

Additionally, at street level, the façade is complemented by the so-called “dragon skin” used for the first time in Poland – thousands of tiles resembling scales, which react to every gust of wind, giving the impression as if the building came to life. The lobby is also very impressive in terms of design: high, two-storey, chrome-plated, entirely glazed, which overlooks the street and seems to be an integral part of the city.

Over 202 meters high skyscraper is the highest completed building in the capital city, counting up to the roof. In addition to 57 thousand square metres of top-class office space, a canteen serving tasty meals and a cozy cafeteria on the ground floor. The building has a multi-storey garage for over 450 cars and an extensive infrastructure for cyclists: bicycle parking, changing rooms and showers. Warsaw UNIT was designed by architect Adam Wagner, a chief of renowned Polish-Belgian architectural studio PBPA Projekt.

Environmental and sustainable innovations of project:
The building is the first skyscraper in Poland set to receive the prestigious WELL certificate in the latest v2 Core version, which takes into account primarily those parameters that affect the health and well-being of building users. UNIT is also in the process of BREEAM certification at the Excellent level and already has a Green Building Standard certificate.

Paying great attention to a healthy lifestyle and being guided by the principles of smart cities, Ghelamco has taken care about comfortable solutions for cyclists. The building will have a spacious, underground parking for cyclists, along with their own ramps, as well as a full infrastructure: two-level stands, locker rooms and showers. Also charging stations for electric cars will encourage the eco-friendly lifestyle.

Not only is the building state-of-the-art on the outside. Similarly, a special-purpose mobile application will ensure the comfort and safety of users inside, including access to the office. Except that, the skyscraper can operate as part of the so-called “pandemic mode”. This can be ensured by a number of technologies to stop the spread of viruses: the air conditioning system is protected in the ventilation units by UV lamps and additionally can work in automatic mode exclusively with fresh air. UV lamps will be also installed in the lifts to effectively disinfect the space.
