The number of building permits for residential buildings increased, in the first two months of 2025, by 3.4%, compared to the same period in 2024, with 4,535 such permits being issued, according to data published by the National Institute of Statistics. Increases were recorded in the West (+126 permits), Center (+97), Northwest (+50) and Southeast (+7) development regions. Decreases were recorded in Northeast (-105 permits), South-Muntenia (-12), Southwest Oltenia (-10) and Bucharest-Ilfov (-3). In February 2025, 2,617 building permits were issued for residential buildings (+36.4% compared to January 2025), with a total usable area of 601,208 sq m (+28.2%). Of the total building permits for residential buildings, 68.5% are for rural areas. Also, in February 2025, 508 building permits were issued for non-residential buildings (+47.2% compared to January 2025), with a total usable area of 277,066 sq m (-23.9%).
