The Danish group ROCKWOOL, one of the largest mineral wool manufacturers in the world, has opened its first factory in Romania, a 50-million euro investment. The factory is located on a 30 ha plot in Ploiesti West Industrial Park, in Aricestii Rahtivani, Prahova County. Starting with February 2018, Blue Projects has provided design review, tender support, and project and construction management services. The factory has a floor area of 13,000 sqm and a production capacity of approximately 45,000 tons per year, being the largest facility of its kind in Romania. Most of the production will be delivered locally, as Romania is one of the largest European markets for insulation materials. The factory will deliver complete insulation solutions for facades, roofs, terraces, floors and walls. The raw materials will be locally sourced – mineral wool is processed from basalt, a volcanic rock found in abundance in Romania.
