The Czechoslovak investment duo of Daniel Kretinsky and Patrik Tkac have taken on the shareholders of another European retail icon. This time, the two have joined forces to acquire a 3.05 percent share in the British supermarket chain Sainsbury's. While the percentage they own is relatively small, it's enough to make them the company's fourth largest shareholder. It's unclear how far they're looking to go, but their ambitions could be substantial. They made the purchase through their investment vehicle Vesa Equity Investment, which also holds a 7.15 percent in the French retailer Casino. The two are also 29.99 percent shareholders in Germany's retail giant Metro.
