Biedronka opens 28,700 sqm distribution centre at CTPark Voderady as It expands into Slovakia
Retailer Biedronka has moved into a 28,700 sqm logistics facility at CTPark Voderady in Western Slovakia, marking its entry into the Slovakian market. The facility will serve as a distribution centre for the company’s planned expansion in the country.
Biedronka, Poland’s largest grocery retail chain with over 3,700 stores, recently opened its first Slovakian store in Miloslavov, in the Bratislava region. The new distribution centre at CTPark Voderady will support its further expansion, initially focusing on locations within the centre’s catchment area.
The facility has been custom-built by CTP to meet Biedronka’s operational needs. CTP, a major European industrial and logistics property developer, will continue to manage the facility, providing ongoing support.
CTPark Voderady is located along the D1 highway, approximately 50 km from Bratislava, offering access to Austria, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Hungary. The site was selected for its strategic location and CTP’s experience in developing logistics properties for the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
The new energy-efficient facility includes modern technology for materials handling and refrigerated storage. It will initially employ 66 people, with plans to expand the workforce to around 500 employees in the coming years.
Biedronka is part of Jerónimo Martins, a Portuguese group with retail and business operations in Poland, Portugal, and Colombia. The company’s Slovakian expansion strategy will be guided by its experience managing 17 distribution centres in Poland.
