Billa opens new store in Bulgaria

Supermarket chain operator Billa Bulgaria, part of Germany's REWE Group, has opened a new store in the central Bulgarian town of Karlovo worth close to EUR 1 million. The new unit is Billa's 147th in the country and spreads over 1,200 sqm in Karlovo's new retail park.

Billa Bulgaria reported a 22 percent annual jump in the January-September turnover to Levs 877 million. The company announced few month ago that it is investing Levs 32 million to open nine new stores and refurbish 12 others in full year 2022.

The Austria-based retailer has been active in Bulgaria for over 20 years and employs a workforce of more than 4,500.
