The Embassy of Belgium has just leased 600 square meters of office space for a 10 year term in Metropolis Center, one of the most premium multifunctional buildings in Bucharest, a landmark considering its architecture and positioning. The transaction has been intermediated by Knight Frank Romania.

The Embassy joins tenants like the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), Parexel, DLA Piper, Mega Image, in a class A modern building in the CBD, one of the most sought after areas for both living and working, in Bucharest.

“It was an honor for me to have the trust of the Belgian Embassy, to find them a great new home to carry on their important diplomatic mission in Romania. I believe that Metropolis is a perfect fit for them and wish them and PPF a wonderful long-term partnership,” says Oliver Derksen, Associate Director, Knight Frank Romania.

Bucharest’s office demand in Q1 2022 was approximately 72,000 square meters in 64 transactions, bouncing back from pandemic times, with a 35% increase compared to the same period last year. When it comes to deliveries, we saw 74,000 square meters delivered in Q1 2022, 2.5 times higher than the same period last year and almost the same value as in Q1 2020, which shows positive signs for the market. At the end of Q1 2022 the total office stock of class A & B buildings in Bucharest reached 3.272K sqm.

“The Belgian Embassy is looking forward to moving to its new premises. Our more modern and spacious offices reflect the growing importance of the Belgian—Romanian diplomatic and economic relations and will allow our consular section to provide better services to Belgian citizens and visa applicants,” stated Philippe Benoit, Ambassador of Belgium.

The legal assistance for the lessor was provided by the real estate team of DLA Piper – Bucharest Office, and on the Belgian Embassy’s side by Secu Legal Law Firm.
