The first of three buildings due to be redeveloped at the old Svatopetrska industrial complex in Brno has been completed. The result is a modern building with 16 low-energy units that will be used for a mix of rental housing and commercial space. The brownfield project includes substantial investments into the buildings' surroundings to create a park area and a revitalization of a small brook that runs through the property. Located in the Komarov district near the center of Brno, the project's history stretches back to the 1970's when the three buildings were built on a 1.5 hectare site. The site now includes an innovation center, a meeting hall for 80 people along with space for flats and shops. The developer cooperated with Schneider Electronics which installed over 500 sensors and meters along with photovoltaic panels, heat pumps and a system for maximizing the use of rain water.
