Haier lays off 40% of employees at its refrigerator factory in Prahova

The Chinese Haier Group will lay off about 40 percent of the 1,000 employees at its refrigerator factory in Prahova.

"Market contraction and falling demand across all categories - which persists as a consequence of the post-pandemic effect and the recent crisis in Europe and globally," is the reason cited by Haier.

The Chinese Haier Group has started production at its first refrigerator factory in the European Union, near Ploiesti, in 2021, with total investment in the facility exceeding EUR 70 million. The factory is located in the Allianso Industrial Park in Ariceștii Rahtivani, near Ploiesti, on an area of 63,000 sqm.
