Hebe plans to open 30 shops in Poland this year

Hebe plans to expand its sales network in Poland by 30 new locations this year, according to the chain's owner Jeronimo Martins.

Hebe will continue to focus its growth strategy on the e-commerce channel, which is also the basis of its internationalisation. In Poland, the strengthening of the shop network envisages opening around 30 new locations throughout the year, the company announced.

The company highlighted that in Poland, Hebe achieved good results in H1 2024, and the trend in its sales and profitability confirmed the effectiveness of Hebe's multi-channel approach.

Hebe increased sales by 22% in H1 (in local currency), with an LFL of 12.4%. In euro, sales reached 271 million, 30.6% more than in H1 2023. In Q2, sales in local currency were up 16.8%, with LFL up 7.5%. In euro, sales reached 142 million, 23.5% more than in Q2 2023. The chain achieved good results at shop level and e-commerce activity, which continues to grow strongly. It is becoming an important driver of growth, already accounting for around 19% of sales. Following the good sales performance, EBITDA increased by 40.1% (+30.9% in local currency) and the margin increased to 7.3% (6.8% in 1H 2023), the company reported.

In H1 this year, the Hebe drugstore chain opened 17 shops on the Polish market, increasing the number of outlets to 359 in Poland at the end of June and two outlets in the Czech Republic (a total of 361 shops). The total area of the shops (in Poland and two in the Czech Republic) amounted to 92,276 sqm at the end of June this year, compared to 82,869 a year earlier.
