In the third quarter of 2020, unemployment in Serbia increased by two percent

In the third quarter of 2020, there were 2.22 million employees in Serbia, which is 44,422 employees, or two percent, more than at the same time last year. The Republic Bureau of Statistics announced that most employees were employed - 2.09 million, out of employment 66,906, and there were 65,538 registered individual farmers.

Employment was primarily recorded in the employment category, where growth was 2.8 percent (57,857) compared to the same quarter in 2019. Employment growth was highest in Belgrade and Vojvodina. The activities with the largest increase in employment are manufacturing (growth of 14,513 persons), construction (9,727), wholesale and retail trade and repair of motor vehicles (9,025), information and communication (6,643) and transport and storage (growth of 4,419 persons).
