The Hungarian national postal service has announced the sale of it’s holiday resorts, which were making an annual loss of over EUR 0.5m per year. This year it was announced that the 26 properties will be closed, and the sale would be the next step. First in line are six properties by lake Balaton, for which Magyar Posta expects to receive at least EUR 3 million. The total value of all of the 26 properties which include campsites, bed and breakfasts and hotels around Hungary is to be around EUR 27.6 million. The CEO of Magyar Posta Gyorgi Schamschula has admitted in an interview for Nepszava.hu that the sale of these properties will help fund a payrise for the post workers.
