Retail sales up 2.5% in September

Poland’s retail sales at constant prices increased 2.5 percent y-o-y in September, but decreased by 2.2 percent m-o-m, according to Statistics Poland. Between January and September, retail sales decreased 3.1 percent y-o-y, against a growth of 5.8 percent in 2019. In September 2020, the largest increase in retail sales (at constant prices) was noted in entities selling furniture, radio, TV and household appliances at 8.6 percent y-o-y. Sales were also up in the following groups: motor vehicles, motorcycles and parts (+4.9 percent); newspapers, books and other sales in specialized stores (+3 percent); food, beverages and tobacco products (+1.6 percent) and pharmaceuticals, cosmetics and orthopedic equipment (+1.4 percent).
