Serbia started the reconstruction and expansion of the Horgos checkpoint on the border with Hungary, a project valued at approximately EUR 17.7 million, according to the infrastructure ministry. The reconstruction will include the construction of four additional traffic lanes.

The works, which are being carried out by local construction company Jadran, are expected to be finalised in 18 months.

"The reconstruction of the Horgos border crossing is of great significance because it is part of the Europe's Corridor X, and because it is one of the key points of transit through our country," infrastructure minister Tomislav Momirovic said.
