The Ambasador Hotel in Bucharest was closed to undergo an extensive modernization process, which will also include the unused wing, after the Austrian group House of Julius Meinl bought the entire building.

"In order to ensure that we offer services at ever higher standards and to improve the experience we offer our guests, we have taken the decision to suspend the hotel's operation. Together with the new shareholder, the entire "Ambassador Hotel" building will undergo an extensive modernization process so that we can meet your requests at a level of services according to the trend in the tourist market," is the hotel's announcement.

The Austrian group is preparing to invest EUR 30-35 million in bringing the entire hotel to the 4-5 star standard, an amount that also includes the purchase price. The new arrangement provides for the creation of around 130 accommodation spaces, of which 40 percent will be double rooms.
