Panattoni building distribution centre for Amazon in Neu-Ulm, Bavaria

Panattoni is developing a distribution centre for the online retailer Amazon in Neu-Ulm, Bavaria, Germany. The site is around 1.5 km from the town centre and enjoys excellent connections to the A7 federal autobahn, the B10 federal road and local public transport services. Amazon will use the premises to facilitate its last-mile logistics.

Panattoni is converting the approx. 20,000 sqm site to create 4,181 sqm of logistics space and 2,571 sqm of office space. The building, which will span a total surface area of around 6,700 m², is being constructed in line with requirements for Gold certification from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) and will have a clear internal height of 10 m. The site will also feature a covered car park with a total of 192 van parking spaces, with EV charging facilities planned for some of these. A further 58 outdoor parking spaces will also be provided on the site. Finningerstrasse S-Bahn station is also just 800 m away.

Panattoni started construction work in early 2021, with completion scheduled for the end of 2021. Intensive ground surveys and extensive demolition work have been required as part of the revitalisation project. This property will be the seventh that Panattoni has completed for Amazon in Germany since 2019. The developer has already built distribution centres in Kaltenkirchen, north of Hamburg, Knüllwald near Kassel, Magdeburg, and in the Jade-Weser-Park.

The town will benefit from revitalisation of this brownfield site and the creation of more than hundred jobs.”
